Jerry: no, just for fun. Nunchakus practice could be divided into two kinds: martial art training and just for show purpose, and my case definitely belongs to the latter ? I didn’t look for any private coach to teach me; instead, just watch some step-by-step video in youku.com, a video website just as “youtube” in China. There are lots of Nunchakus masters there who not only have amazing skills and always happy to share how to learn Numchakus from scratch by making videos. Those videos are extremely helpful for beginners like me.

As far as I know, thanks to SAP’s work-and-life balance atmosphere, many of my colleagues are experts not only in traditional SAP area but also in some other fields like sports, photograph, drawing, piano etc. And I would also like to add my part to this rich and colorful skillset: in fact I have written a blog in Wechat to introduce my road to Nunchakus as a SAP engineering.

問題2. How do you believe the nunchakus help you or calm you?

Nunchakus helps me build confidence when dealing with new world. Nunchakus is a completely new world for me, I know nothing about it before I make my mind to learn this skill. During my self-study period, as you can image I encounter various obstacles and difficulties and even once hurt myself badly; I once planned to give up because I thought I couldn’t use it as well as what the masters did in the learning video. Fortunately I stick to it and can use it at beginner level now. No pain no gain.

On the other hand, as a SAP developer, due to company’s cloud transformation, inevitably we will learn new technology to build better products to serve our customers. It’s not easy to step out from our comfortable zone to embrace the new world. With the confidence I gained during my Nunchakus self study, I am sure I can behave more calmly in front of undiscovered challenges.
